The courage to lie down

The courage to lie down. There is something strangely liberating about lying in a field with nothing to do.
The grass moves with the breeze.
Clouds drift quietly overhead.
Birds pass by without asking where you're going next.
For a little while, the world carries on perfectly well without you trying to keep up.
Perhaps that is what we need more of.
Not another plan.
Not another goal.
Just enough stillness to hear our own dreams again.
We spend so much of life believing we have to keep moving forward to become who we are meant to be.
Yet some of life's biggest changes don't happen while we're running.
They happen when we finally stop.
Lying beneath an Algarve sky, surrounded by the gentle rhythm of the wind, I am reminded that dreams rarely arrive in the middle of the noise.
They find us in the quiet.
Sometimes the shortest distance between who we are and who we might become...
...is simply lying down.
