August in the Algarve

There is something special about August in the Algarve.

The sea has finally warmed up. The days seem to stretch on forever, and life quietly shifts outdoors. Mornings begin at the beach, afternoons drift by under a parasol, and evenings end around a table with good food and even better company.

If you're looking for space, head to Alvor. Its beach seems endless. Walk a little further from the main entrances and you'll often find a quieter stretch of sand where the only soundtrack is the waves, the wind and the occasional laugh carried across the shore. It has become one of my favourite places to spend a summer day.

But what fascinates me most isn't the beach itself.

It's the people.

Families, couples, children, grandparents, locals and visitors from every corner of the world all sharing the same stretch of sand.

Someone's football rolls a little too far.

A toddler covers an unsuspecting neighbour in sand.

Laughter breaks out.

Someone apologises.

Someone smiles.

And somehow... nobody seems to mind.

For a few hours, the little things simply don't matter.

I've often wondered why.

What is it about the beach that makes us kinder? More patient. More willing to make room for one another.

Perhaps it's because, standing in front of the sea, we are all reminded of the same thing.

How wonderfully small we are.

And maybe that's enough to let the rest drift away with the tide.

About Us

This is a collection of slow moments, discoveries, and everyday life in the Algarve.

Over time, this space is also growing into something more — a place that connects travel with living, and eventually, a place to stay.

For now, it’s simply a way of sharing the Algarve, one story at a time.
